R.T. I. – Response to Instruction Model
Deerfield Community School incorporates scheduled intervention blocks into the school day at each grade level. This is a valued part of our instructional model to individualize learning for each student. Classroom teachers, reading and math specialists, special educators work together to give all students the learning supports and extensions they “need” to grow as a learner. This block, sometimes called WIN (What I Need) or Core & More, provides all students focused instruction on specific skills he or she needs.
Learning progress is monitored on a regular basis. The teachers meet weekly to discuss student progress using a variety of data and to plan instructional changes to improve learning for all students. Our goal in using this model is to help your children grow as proficient learners.
