Martha Dalrymple is our new 4th grade teacher at DCS. She came highly recommended by former Deerfield principal and UNH supervisor, Paul Yergeau, and she has not disappointed! Martha’s undergraduate degree is a dual major in Family Studies and Ecogastronomy, which is the study of good, clean, fair food for all! Her Master’s degree is in Elementary Education. During her Ecogastronomy studies, she was able to study food and agriculture in Italy for four months!
Martha says she used her time in college to combine and follow her two passions, people and food! She is a creative and adventurous cook who tries to invent new combinations to include food from her co-op at a friend’s farm.
Martha, a New Hampshire native, grew up spending time at our lakes, mountains, and ocean. As a result, she LOVES to be outside! Originally a Physical Education major, she took a number of Outdoor Education classes and even led a 9 mile hike through Carter Notch.
Martha believes in teaching students to take care of the mind and body so that they can be the best learners possible. Students need to be mentally and physically ready to learn in order to truly absorb the opportunities for learning in the classroom. This is just one reason why Martha fits well in Deerfield! We are so fortunate to have her energy and positivity in our DCS family!
