After-School Enrichment

When school lets out for the day at DCS, the fun and learning definitely don’t stop! Our after-school enrichment program consists of a diverse offering of activities and courses led by teachers and respected community volunteers. There are several sessions throughout the year, each featuring a different assortment of programs to choose from.

The after-school enrichment program is a fantastic way to allow students to explore more niche interests and topics in greater depth. Check out our current offerings below.

Fall Session Details

This five-week session of our program will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting on October 22nd. . We begin immediately following dismissal and ends at 4:00 p.m. Students enjoy supervised time to relax, have a snack or do homework until classes start at 3:00 p.m. Each child will be signed in and supervised at all times by either the coordinator or program educators and will be officially signed out by the program coordinator at the end of the day.

Each course costs $35.

Scholarship money is available to those who qualify. Please contact Lori Lopez for more information.

In many cases the classes are run by DCS staff, however members of the community are also involved in instruction. All educators who are not DCS staff will have passed a background check.

Fall 2019 Enrichment Programs

Every Body Yoga! with Instructor Mrs. Robert 

($35 – Grades 6-8, Max. 10 students)
Tuesdays from 3:00 to 4:00 pm

Yoga helps people:

? Develop body awareness ? Learn to use their bodies in a healthy way ? Manage stress through breathing, awareness, meditation and healthy movement ? Build concentration ?Increase confidence and positive self-image ? Feel part of a healthy, non-competitive group ? Have an alternative to tuning out through constant attachment to electronic devices ?

You can expect to learn about:
?Awareness of the breath ? Strengthening and energizing ? Balancing ? Stretching and lengthening ? Awareness and focus ? Flowing, connecting and integrating ? Meditation and relaxation

Arts and Crafts with Instructor Ms. Hewey 

($35 -Grades K-5,  Max. 10 students)
Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:00pm

Arts and crafts enrichment will include anything from painting to holiday
crafts, to making friendship bracelets!

Minecraft Club with Instructor Mr. Ferdinand

($35 – Grades 3-4, Max. 10 students)
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00 pm

Minecraft is a game of building, learning and adventure. In this club, students will put their creativity and teamwork to the test as they collaborate to solve challenges and construct unique projects in a digital world. New sign-ups only, please.


Nature Art with Instructor Miss Giannelli

($35 Grades 5-8 Max. 8 students  )
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 – 4:00pm

This class is designed to immerse children in nature while they use materials
and inspiration from nature to create individual works of art. Students will
explore the textures, colors, and patterns in nature and will use this to inspire their imagination and expression of their art. Students will be encouraged to positively reinforce their own and other students’ work to help build strong communication skills and relationships.


First Lego League Jr. with Instructor Mrs. Dill

($35 – Grades 1-3, Max. 6 students)
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00 pm

Teams will begin by learning about the Moon and exploring what kinds of problems they would need to solve in order to live there. Then they will design a solution to one or more of these problems. All teams will show what they learn by designing and creating a Moon Base and Show Me poster. New sign-ups only, please.

Art Club with Instructor Miss Caitlin

($35 – Grades 1and 2  Max. 8 students)
Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00 pm

On the first week, we are going to get to know each other with coloring activities such as coloring books, drawing their favorite animals, and coloring them all in with their favorite colors. The following weeks we will be more hands on with arts and crafts such as making slime, leaf hedgehogs and painting pine cones. Fun for everyone who enjoys getting a little messy and making art.
