We had our 3rd Annual K-4 Family Math Night and we were very excited to see the huge turnout. The DCS gymnasium was filled with games and activities all centered around building mathematical understanding, communication and the connection between home and school.
There was an assortment of activities and games to keep families engaged and having fun. Some of the favorites were bowling at our “DCS Bowling Alley”, walking our life-size hundred chart, making paper snowflakes, building paper structures and adding them to our model community and taking a spin down our Story Problem Race Track. We also had a huge success with our very first Math Escape Room. Families worked together to solve the math puzzle to “escape” in less than 30 minutes. I can confidently report that all families did escape.
We would like to thank the families and students that made this event such a success. We would also like to thank the teachers of DCS for volunteering their time and energy, without them this event would be impossible!! Thank you to Hannaford of Northwood for the donation of the balloons. We would also like to extend an extra special thank you to FOCUS, for donating the life-size stations such as the bowling alley and number chart. Lastly, thank you to Sarah Nickel for coordinating the Pizza To-Go 8th grade fundraiser.
We already have some new and fun ideas for next year…we look forward to this event all year!!!
